1) DJ Nothinnice , please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?

Well, it all started when I was in the military,  I used to go out and hear djs that didn’t transition from song to song well, it got on my nerves. Coming from a background of music (singing, playing instruments). And my uncle being a dj, the passion was always there. So I bought two “BELT DRIVE” turntables, to excited to look at the type of turntables they were, I had to use them and learn with other djs from around the area that took me under their wing and taught me  and put me in front of crowds (no less than 500 people) and told me to rock it! Of course I rocked it (wasn’t getting embarrassed, plus I practiced my behind off).

The process was easy for me to catch on the techniques from beat matching, scratching, blending and other various skill sets. But I still didn’t have the key qualities that a crowd rocker should have. And that was talking to the crowd, was I nervous? Nah not really, I just was in my zone and I watched the people vibe and a few people would dance but actually pulling people from their seats, my mentor at the time told me, “Yo Nice talk to the people bro, ENTERTAIN them!” I was like “Word”. And from that point on I have rock shows from different states and it has led me now to owning Nothin Nice Radio. In which I am very very grateful!


2) Being a DJ has it been a smooth road? 

Being a dj has not been a smooth road, from being in a position of having and making revenue all the time, to having and being in situations that weren’t the best for me and my brand. The times of practicing, not just the skills portion but actually understanding people’s love for music.

Each person is different when it comes to music, some people listen and enjoy music to meditate. While others use it to make love. The point is that being a Dj does more than just spin hits that people like and introduce them to up and coming artists (should be doing) but more.

Giving people the music that may have helped them through their day when they tune into you is what it’s about. 
Has the financial portion always been good? Definitely not in the beginning stages, remember I had mentors, and of course they would share some of the profits made but I had to earn my way.

A Lot of the local djs had guaranteed gigs, but a lot of my time in Tennessee (S/O to all the djs in Tennessee), they would give me gigs they couldn’t make and also based on my relationships that I BUILT with them. They allowed me to pursue my DJing passion and I will forever be grateful to all my mentors in Tenn. To be honest to all my mentors all over from each state and country.

3) How do you think the hip hop industry will change over the next decade?


I feel that music will always have a place for evolution based on the ideal of the influences of sound. Many people in the Hip Hop community are and will be influenced by all types of sounds and influential music and artists from around the world.

So over the next decade Hip Hop will change and even evolve with artists with collective mindsets and it will be in good hands. Many people don’t believe that the music is different in today’s time.  Which is totally false, there are many artists that value the wording of Hip Hop. Its the point of actually looking for the Hip Hop by your definition.


The types of artists that people think of have a certain lyric content to artists that are strictly for entertainment are what people are forgetting.  Music in general and being a true artist has been about painting pictures that when people look at it, they can find and relate to the painting. It was never meant to stay stagnant, as some people persist it should be.  The World changes and so should the artist that makes music in any genre. It’s about evolving for the masses, not for selfish reasons and forgetting that music touches all lives not just mine or the peoples that only like a certain style of Music.

4) You are a Grammy member, how did that come about?


Yes, through the school of Full Sail University (Alumni), it was a club called GrammyU which gave Music students the opportunity to see some of the great works the The Recording Academy has to offer.

(Grammypro.com) When you’re a part of elite schools they want to give you different opportunities to not only give you the portion of the academic side of the house (getting good grades, being on time to class) but also giving you real world experiences. But going through the club and following directions and the necessary steps they talked to me about. I was recommended to become a Grammy Member with background checks and works done within the industry my application was approved!

5 Nothinnice radio how did it come about?


In my journey throughout my career I have been blessed to meet all types of people in different areas of the industry. Through my journey I met with people that have allowed me to be in situations with radio, interview major and indie artist. Learning the crowd of radio the networking in meet and greets and open mics as well as different dj events all over the world.

Listening and taking in the information that was provided I wanted to make more of a Worldwide impact. So learning this and knowing what it actually took I committed to Nothin Nice Radio “Giving You Exclusive Music and Interviews Worldwide”. And have been running the station ever since focused on all music and all artists from all over the World.

 6) How has Covid-19 changed the way you do things?

Covid-19 has changed the way I do things by allowing me to seriously buckle down on fine tuning the things necessary to make Nothin Nice Radio more of a Brand. Also it has made me focused more on the business side of the house making the company more accessible for the people.

7) Who has played a meaningful role in your life?

My uncle has played a meaningful role in my life. Mainly because he was the one who showed me a lot of things and really had me wanting to be a Dj. I used to go out with him late at night and put paper flyers on people’s cars.

I even watch him talk to people and get them in the mood based on his conversation, into the people wanting to come listen to my Uncle Dj. That showed me the power of music that day and every since then I wanted to dj. I never told my Uncle this because he used to always discourage me to be a DJ, so that made me want it even more. The funny thing is that he didn’t even tell me his dj name, but I never asked. 

8) What’s next for DJ Nothinnice in the future?


What’s next for Dj Nothin Nice in the future? We have projects upcoming with Nothin Nice Records from spoken word to hits. More Impact Community Awards for those who are doing great works in the community. Nothin Nice Gaming with great opportunities for gamers and the gaming community. Grammy focuses on encouraging those who want to be a part of The Recording Academy and making sure we lead the next leaders to greatness. And above all spreading love to each community and genre to and making the World love more each day.

With 13 songs​, King’s Disease ​includes features from Big Sean, R&B singer Charlie Wilson, Lil Durk, some of New York’s finest such as Fivio Foreign, A$AP Ferg as well as many other artists.

The ​‘​king’s disease​’​ refers to gout, a form of inflammatory arthritis commonly associated with excessive consumption of rich foods and alcohol. The album cover itself tells the story without having to research much.

Nas finds himself seated on his newly appointed throne, monitoring cultural excellence and throwing attention to the injustices of the world. If he’s not rallying behind successful Black celebrities who are unfairly scrutinised in the media (​10 Points​), then he’s toasting to Black pride (​Ultra Black​) or putting his own career under the microscope (​The Cure​).

There may be many new rappers on the up and coming, but there will never be one like Nas. To still have the same flow and give the same New York vibes as if no time has passed is something not everyone possesses.

If you haven’t yet dipped your toe into the grimey world of UK Hip Hop, allow me to shove you in with Headie One’s latest single. The controversial rapper from London is due to release his debut album this year. In anticipation, the London MC has managed to generate hype through his singles alone since his most recent release from prison in April. Most noticeably of the singles, “Only You Freestyle” taps Drake, a very vocal UK Rap advocate, for a feature giving Headie One a well-received introduction onto the global stage.

It IS Different a Review of Ain’t It Different feat AJ Tracey & Stormzy by Headie One

Headie One’s most recent single “Ain’t It Different” pulls in two of the currently biggest names in the UK Rap scene, Stormzy & AJ Tracey. Coupling the aggressive rap style of these UK acts with the world-famous riff from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Pretty Little Ditty” (made extremely popular by Crazy Town in their single “Butterfly”) as well as sampling from M Dubbs and Lady Saw’s “Bump ‘ n ‘ Grind”, “Ain’t It Different” is a catchy, and accessible, single that could catapult Headie One to the top of the charts. 

The lyrical content of “Ain’t It Different” isn’t outstandingly original in subject matter but there are one liner punches that definitely stick out in griminess and aggression. The three rappers delegate their features with a standard verse/chorus/verse separation but tie their different verses together by asking, “Ain’t it Different” before diving in to their respective commentary. But the allure of this song isn’t in the tribulations of Londoners involved in a violent trap scene, obsession with material goods, or even struggles with success and mainstream fame, but rather the seamless use of sampling and punching rap flows- and for that we have to thank the producers FRED and Toddla T. What sets this single apart for Headie One, elevating him to a mainstream artist, is a proven track record of enlisting artists that are more popular than him on tracks that are produced so perfectly you can’t NOT nod your head to the beat. This is by far one of the easiest introductions into the UK Hip Hop scene so sit back, and enjoy. HustleTV we love our music.

August 15, 1985, a legend was born. Ermias Joseph Asghedom, known professionally as Nipsey
Hussle, would have been celebrating his 35th birthday today.
Killed by the hands of a man who was and still is uncomfortable with his own reality, Nipsey
Hussle left this earth way too soon.

It has been 16 months since his death. He left behind friends, family, fans and most importantly;
he left behind his legacy.
His peers, close friends, collaborators in the hip-hop industry, family and his beautiful girlfriend,
Lauren London, also showed love as they remembered their late friend.
Lauren London posted the following on her Instagram today:
“King Ermias Best friend Twin Flame Greatest Teacher Beautiful Strong Vessel The Spiritual
Giant that walked Earth,” London described her beloved partner on Saturday. “‘I Miss You’ will
never be deep enough for the void left in my soul. Yet, I know you walk with me- always still.


Happy 35th Eternally Yours, Boogie.”
Snoop Dogg, west coast and Long Beach legend, also shared a photo of himself and Nipsey with
the caption,”Miss u loco 🏁🙏🏽😥,”
On Twitter, Rick Ross showed respect for Hussle in a series of tweets. “Perfect time to shine,” he
wrote, adding, “Marathon continues…” and finally posting the rapper’s name with a dove emoji
next to it.

Rapper YG also paid tribute to Hussle writing on Instagram, “Happy Cday Loc. Talk to me foo.
We miss you everyday.” He finished the caption with multiple red and blue hearts.
These were not even half of the birthday wishes and condolences shown today. Hundreds and
thousands of friends and fans all over the world showed respect to Hussle on his special day.
His passing has been hard on many people. He paved the way for a lot of young men just like
him while also getting people through tough times of their own.

Hussle wasn’t just a rapper. He was a motivator, a mentor, an entrepreneur, a friend, a father, an
uncle, a brother, a companion. Killed by the hands of a coward holding a gun.
It’s different when you do the things you rap/talk about and when you came up from nothing and
got it on your own. Nipsey was a perfect example of being a man of his word.


Hussle will be in history books. He considered himself “the Tupac of my generation,” and no one
disagreed with him. His music continues to uplift and empower.
Today, we celebrate the late Nip Hussle Tha Great. He is forever missed and will never be

Sophomore albums are notorious for the make or break of a career: something that the 26-year-old rapper, Aminé, is all too conscious of. Coming off of a light-hearted debut turned mainstream break like Good for You there was a lot of expectation for Aminé to re-produce a similar album. That expectation kept the sophomore album on the backburner.

Stuck in Limbo Aminé Releases His Unexpected Sophomore Album

A well-received mixtape was able to relieve some pressure but Limbo is still a sophomore album that took two years to come to fruition. The result? A diverse track list that showcases many different talents of the young musician while coming together to create a well-rounded compilation of part-matured, part-figuring-it-out reflections on the current state of the world. 

Enlisting help from other popular artists like Summer Walker, Young Thug, and Vince Staples, Aminé is able to accomplish a cohesive piece of work that is relevant to current music listeners and should solidify him as a lasting act in the industry. At base level, Aminé offers commentary on the indecision many of us feel as we plunge into adulthood but there is so much more behind the free-flowing album. 

Limbo has the musicality of an indie jazz album paired with the poetry of a socially conscious young black man experiencing 2020. This rapper has a fresh perspective on the intricacies of human relationship and supports his musings with interesting beats, integration of real instruments, and important melodic support. Some darker toned songs sneak in and compliment his easy-going persona to establish him as a serious musician while challenging us all to consider what we’re experiencing and where we are headed.

Overall, Limbo offers us a chance to relate to Aminé in a new way and see him in a new light. It seems that the mainstream music industry may finally be ready for this hybrid hip-hop album and perhaps even allow for anticipation of a third album that doesn’t conform to traditional popular music. Hopefully it doesn’t take two more years for us to find out if Aminé is up for the challenge.

Released Friday, Cardi B and Meg Thee Stallion’s song WAP shook the entire internet. The song itself wasn’t much to discuss; but the visual is what really had the people on the edge of their seats. 

The baseline of the song is a sampled snippet from an old Baltimore club track, Frank Ski’s “Whores in This House.” Catchy, and very telling. 

A collaboration with Megan and Cardi was long overdue. Their flows are dramatically different; yet the charisma booming from their voice — you can quickly imagine each of them without ever watching “WAP’s” music video, which is also another joy. 

The visual was the representation of sex appeal. The two ladies showed that they could do more than just rap; they could have fun with it. Not to mention, phenomenal and unique appearances were made by Normani, Mulatto, Rubi Rose and Kylie Jenner to name a few. 

These two women have easily become pop music’s biggest stars. Some would argue that they are walking in the same footsteps as Lil Kim, Khia, Trina and Foxy Brown. 

But unfortunately, not everyone was sold on the song. 

Republican congressional candidate, James P. Bradley, who’s running to replace California’s Ted Lieu said that Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion “are what happens when children are raised without God and without a strong father figure.” He went on to say that “WAP,” which he claimed to have heard “accidentally,” “made me want to pour holy water in my ears.” 

The negative comments from Bradley didn’t phase the two one bit. Nevertheless, the music video for WAP has already received 57 million views on YouTube; and the numbers continue to go up. 

The two female rappers along with the women included in the music video, were trending on Twitter for about two days since the release and still are. WAP is a much better piece of art than it is a song. Although it is a song intentionally directed toward women, the male audience loved it just as much.

Who would have thought to ever see the day a rapper would run for, or become President of the United States. The day has finally arrived. 

Chicago’s finest; Kanye West, has entered the United States Presidential election. It would just be a conversation had on Twitter or Instagram amongst the users of the apps,, but it is now becoming a reality. 

Kanye has made an enormous shift since the start of his rap career at age 13. From rapper, to business owner, to clothes designer, to introducing “Sunday Service,” he became all of these things in one. Now; he is aiming to become a 2020 presidential candidate for the republican party.

Republicans are to Aid Kanye West’s Bid to get on the 2020 ballot. 

Last month, Kanye held a rally in North Charleston, North Carolina. This rally displayed sides of Kanye that the public has never witnessed. Following this event, his wife, Kim Kardashian, made a statement via her Instagram, confirming that Kanye is clinically bipolar and has been for years. 

She wrote, “As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand.” 

It is predicted that Kanye is being used by Trump. 

Actor Cory Hardict made an Instagram post that said: “…Kanye is being used by Tump and the GOP to peel off votes. He will automatically take 3% of the votes from Biden just being on ballots. This will be catastrophic for people come November, also the future of America is in Jeopardy this election!!” 

The future of America is up in smoke.

Kanye West, who is medically diagnosed with bipolar disorder, is running for President of the United States. How can Americans trust the country in his hands? How can he prove himself to become a leader of such high status? 

These are questions that the public needs to take into consideration. Many find this to be a joke, but this is very much real. 

We all need to get out there and vote. The future of America includes our futures as well as long as we are living in it. 

We Americans; are the only ones that can control the direction of this election, and it is up to us to make that change. We at HustleTV love what we do.

With many legendary bay area artists like Too $hort, Mac Dre and E-40, there are many new upcoming bay area artists trying to maintain the same culture created for them; while following in the footsteps of the first ones to ever do it. 

A bay area favorite, Mozzy, recently dropped a new album, Beyond Bulletproof, on May 1st 2020. With features from Shordie Shordie, Gherbo, King Von, Blxst and Polo G, this has been said to be one of Mozzy’s best albums to date.

A snippet of his song “Sleep Walkin,” appeared in The Black Panther film back in 2018. Since then, he has been at the top. 

His new song called In My Section, included bay area rapper, Celly Ru, Saviii 3rd and $tupid Young, was released July 30th, 2020. 

Mozzy announced via Instagram that he will also be featured on The Road to Fast 9 mixtape on a song called Too Fast with Los Angeles rapper, Tyga. 

Despite Mozzy’s music career, many fans admire the way he carries himself, the way he tends to his daughters, the way he provides for his family and most importantly they admire the lifestyle he came from. 

His lyrics are relatable, and he makes it clear that he is not ashamed about where he came from and how he got to where he is today. 

From Vallejo, California, H.E.R. has become a bay area favorite. 

Her desire to remain anonymous with her hidden identity has made her stand out from the others. Her wanting to remain mysterious while doing what she loves has drawn in many people to her fan base. 

Slide, being her most recent single; featuring Compton, California rapper YG, has made the top of the charts. With the subtle cruise vibe with a hint of singing and a splash of rapping, it adds up to the perfect song and validates why it has become so popular and reached the top of the billboards. 

A spot well earned. As a female artists; the spotlight is not the first to come to you, and H.E.R. is holding her own putting out hit after hit. 

San Francisco favorite, Larry June and many underground bay area artists such as ALLBLACK, Offset Jim, Neff The Pharaoh and have all been working diligently on their music careers and all 

have songs that have given vibes that you won’t be able to find from any other artists across the globe.

What do I want to do in radio? That’s a pretty loaded question, however if I had to break down exactly what I want to do with my new position in radio. I would have to say give back to my community here in Seattle Washington, especially the African-American community. 

I do want to do something with my old elementary especially for the dyslexic kids like myself. Show the world there are women of color that’s on the radio that look like me, be a voice for women that think like me and inspire others to do the work. And by work I mean, if there something that you want in life, if there’s a goal that you have a burning desire to achieve, you have to put in the work in order to attain that goal.

If you want to lose weight, you can’t lose weight by eating pizza and thinking that you’re going to have a sixpack the next day. It simply doesn’t work that way. So if you want to be that woman of color that’s on the radio, you may have to start from the bottom and work your way up to then find yourself in the right position to actually ask that question of “hey how can I get on the radio.” 

So honestly there’s a lot of things that I want to do with being on the radio, but I think for the most part people just have to follow my journey, follow my movement as some people are trying to call it nowadays. And just keep up with Besa! I’m constantly evolving, constantly growing, I’m constantly trying new things.
