HustleTV is reporting YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul just got the latest boxing victory in his career and it was not easy by any means. He was able to defeat Tyron Woodley in a split decision boxing match. In the name of sports, both boxers appeared to have hated each other in the press conferences leading up to the fight. Boxing fans were raving about Jake Paul’s performance in the fight and now he stays undefeated at 4-0. It is highly doubtful any other video blogger would follow in his footsteps in becoming such a successful boxer. Of course, you would need to train night in and night out to become a boxer as successful as that. Add that to the fact that it was actually the first time that Jake Paul went the distance in a fight. He thought he should have won in a unanimous decision manner though. On the other hand, Tyron thought he should have won and you can’t really blame him for doing so since he landed such a great punch in the 4th round. You won’t win a boxing match by landing one punch though because it would be better to do a lot more than that and make sure the judges see it.

Both fighters seem to be convinced that a rematch will take place. Jake Paul suggested that he will only do a rematch if his name gets tattooed on Woodley’s back after the fight if the later loses. It remains to be seen if Tyron Woodley will hold up this type of deal especially if the name happens to be big. Jake Paul did tell the media that he respects his opponent and that things just got out of hand during the past press conferences. Now, nobody can expect future media calls to go as planned. it is like a wrestling press call where it is expected the two combatants will taunt each other. Some boxing critics were not impressed with Paul and thinks he would not be able to beat veteran boxers. The arena looks sold out up to the last seat despite the presence of the new Delta variant. Boxing fans really missed seeing boxers in person and this fight was a welcome back to reality as restrictions are finally easing up. Jake Paul is still young and this was his first true test and it looked like he was up to the challenge. His last three fights were against people who did not know how to box too much including former NBA superstar Nate Robinson. it is indeed possible that he will look to learn from his lesson when he faces better boxers in the future. He would not want to let down his millions of followers as he would want to dictate his journey as being a successful one. Jake Paul and Tommy Fury went face to face after the fight and it is possible this is Jake’s next fight. Of course, he’s going where there is more money.

The two men that started the executioner gym, Marvin “Toochie” Gordon and Frank Taylor lived to serve the community. They understood that young Black men living in the inner-city did not have many options.

Utilizing sport, and more specifically boxing, became a way of life for this self-proclaimed family. Starting the gym in 1974, they went 639-84 over the next ten years.

The film highlighted the importance of boxing in the inner-cities as well. Giving young Black men an outlet as opposed to what could come when exposed to hard street life.

The Executioners We All Had A Chance shows the tough reality of inner-city life with the story of Carmen Woods, a boxer with The Executioner gym who ended up with the wrong crowd. He has now been in prison for 37 years for a murder that he says he did not commit.

The film also shows the parallel to the unfortunate. Mike Wells, a young boxer for the gym, was spotted by Taylor while stealing. The mentor convinced Wells to come back to the gym on Saturday and train. Wells is a minister now and credits that day to the change in his life.

Dannon Green did a great job paying homage to the legendary gym, but the story-telling was hard to follow. Throughout the hour and a half film, Green, the narrator, mentioned 20-50 fighters. Yet, he only completed six of their stories.

I understand the point of The Executioners We All Had A Chance. Green wanted to pay respect to the boxing gym that trained him, but the delivery was borderline chaotic. He would mention something off-handedly, then five minutes would go by before he explained his point with a different interviewer.

There were times he would change the topic from Philadelphia and talk about the decline in amateur boxing, then switch back. Mention a fighter and how great he was, then change topics. Introduce a new speaker and only tell the audience his name with a picture from the 80s.

As a matter of fact, most viewers saw it as pretty exciting even those who don’t really watch boxing too often. It will be talked about for quite a long time and it goes to show how these boxers earn a lot of money. They entertain the audience a lot which is why arenas usually get sold out for nice boxing matches such as this. The promoter definitely decided a good thing when he thought it would be such a good idea to put it right down to where it is supposed to go. Besides, it would be in their right mind to put up a fight that a lot of people would love to see so that a lot of people would be watching on pay per view. That would surely happen if both fighters are evenly matched and they barely have a loss on their record.

Terence Crawford has been one of the biggest prodigies of Top Rank. He has held the WBO welterweight title since 2018 and has only improved his unbeaten professional career. Now he has 37 wins, however, he is yet to be tested against some of the top-rated champions of his division.

Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) overcame a slow start by making the calculated adjustment to move southpaw. From there, he went on to dismantle former 147-pound titleholder Kell Brook on Saturday in a fourth-round TKO inside the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. 

Although Brook (39-3, 27 KOs) looked fantastic on the scales Friday in his first return to welterweight since losing his IBF title in 2017 and looked sharp off the start behind his jab, Crawford’s precise counter punching and nasty ability to finish opponents when hurt turned out to be the difference.

“I was just trying to gauge the distance and I was trying to find my rhythm in between getting my distance together,” Crawford said. “That’s why it was so competitive early, I couldn’t get my shots off.”

Although Crawford flirted with moving to southpaw in each of the opening two rounds, he clearly lost both by not throwing enough in return. Typically a slow starter, Crawford gained enough information he needed to make the key adjustment, which was moving lefty on a full-time basis in Round 3 and effectively taking away the Brook jab that had been the foundation of his early success. 

“I just stepped forward a little and tried to throw a little more punches but not too much,” Crawford said. “Then I caught him a couple of times.”

Crawford hurt Brook in Round 4 with a surprising counter right hand that was half hook and jab, which caused him to stagger into the ropes. Crawford followed up with a clean left hook before referee Tony Weeks jumped in to rule a knockdown and separate them.

Whether or not the victory leads Crawford to finally step in against an active and elite fellow champion at 147 pounds remains to be seen. When asked what needs to happen for him to finally face off against unbeaten unified champion Errol Spence Jr., who takes on Danny Garcia on Dec. 5, Crawford looked over at the direction of his Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum with a look that suggests his patience is running thin.
