For the first time in nearly a century, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the USC football stadium just south of downtown, was transformed into a lunar landscape: grey padding on the ground, a big plateau in the middle, and synthetic smoke that at times consumed everything it touched. However, because the Coliseum lacks a large TV screen, this benefit performance for convicted Gangster Disciples founder Larry Hoover could only be viewed on Amazon Prime, in person there was no indication that this event was part of a larger context.

Even though Kanye West is one of Drake’s primary influencers, their friendship has deteriorated in recent years. Throughout their music, they’ve exchanged veiled insults, with West’s Twitter feed, or through proxy, like in the Drake/Pusha-T feud of 2018, being the most explicit. Then, just a few weeks ago, Drake and Kanye West met at Drake’s Toronto home and worked over their issues, apparently at the insistence of the founder of Rap-A-Lot and a general hip-hop power broker J. Prince.
On Donda, West’s epic album from this year, Larry Hoover Jr., West’s father’s son, spoke about his relationship with his father. In 2018, West visited with President Trump and campaigned for the release of the elder Hoover, who has been a longtime obsession of West’s. Convicted of extortion and narcotics charges, Hoover Sr., who was sentenced to between 150 and 200 years in prison in 1973 for a murder, continued to run the Gangster Disciples from prison. His six life sentences are currently being served at a maximum-security federal prison in the state of Colorado, with him spending 23 hours a day in isolation. To help a variety of advocacy groups, concert proceeds and “FREE HOOVER” jeans sales are expected.
With each passing year, West’s one-off concerts become more elaborate. His Saint Pablo Tour was cancelled almost precisely five years ago, and he was hospitalized in Los Angeles. “Psychiatric emergency” led to weariness. The announcement came after meandering speeches applauding Donald Trump, slamming radio programmers, and venting issues with friends like Jay-Z and Q-Tip in Sacramento and San Jose, respectively. West performed from a platform suspended over the crowd, drifting across the breadth of an arena, before the Pablo tour came to a close.
Since then, West’s live events have gotten crazier in concept and execution, as evidenced by his 2019 Coachella performance with his Sunday Service choir, which necessitated the construction of a giant grassy mount, or his one-night-only opera about the biblical king Nebuchadnezzar II, later that year in Los Angeles. Overshadowing Donda were a series of album listening sessions, one of which included a faithful reconstruction of West’s childhood home in Soldier Field in Chicago. Lesser-known songs are typically recreated by the choir in his sets.
Aside from the occasional memory lapse or attempt to keep the runtime under control, West didn’t have much between-song banter on his older tracks (pasting the third verse into the first verse, etc.). He also chose to edit some songs but not others for their cursing. Early in the show, the performance lacked momentum. It wasn’t long until he was loose and transmitting the euphoric ecstasy he’d been working so hard to eradicate from his presentations. And he ended that song like Big Gipp from Goodie Mob, saying “Sky high.” On “Say You Will,” a Mike Dean electric guitar solo breaks up the often monotonous musical section. I think it was Ye’s best and most cohesive show since the Pablo tour.

]]>On Sunday night (May 23), Drake accepted Billboard‘s Artist of the Decade Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
Honored at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Drake’s OVO team, along with his parents, presented him with the prestigious award. His manager, Future the Prince, had glowing praise for the self-proclaimed 6 God, labeling him as “the most kind, selfless, generous person we know.”
After viewers watched a montage highlighting his lofty achievements, Drake sauntered onstage with his son Adonis by his side. He presented him the award and then humbly discussed his journey to greatness.

“I’m really self-conscious about my music, and even if I do a good job, I always wonder how I could have done it better,” he said. “I rarely ever celebrate anything. And just for anyone watching this wondering how this happened, that’s really the answer — it’s being so unsure how you’re getting it done that you just kinda keep going in the hopes of figuring out the formula.”
He added: “I know I’ve spent an incalculable amount of hours trying to analyze all the things that I’ve did wrong, but tonight for once, I’m sure as hell we did something right.”
Headlined by his nine No. 1s on the Billboard 200, with his latest coming in 2019 (Care Package), Drake’s dominance began in 2010 with his debut album Thank Me Later. On the Hot 100 side, he banked six No. 1s during that span and shattered a bevy of chart records, including the most Hot 100 top 10s (45, to-date) and overall entries (232). Drake’s supremacy earned him the crown on Billboard’s Top Artists of the 2010s chart.
Shortly after accepting his Artist of the Decade Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, Drake threw himself a major after-party surrounded by his father, son Adonis and friends.
Renting out the 70,000 capacity SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the Canadian artist hosted a dinner party on the 50-yard line to mark his achievement. Aside from having his name and “Artist of the Decade” plastered on the massive screen inside the stadium, champagne towers and bars were set up throughout the entire stadium. Drake reportedly made his way to the venue after dining at The Nice Guy and took in a massive light show set to “Toosie Slide.” Other artists that made it to the event included the likes of Chris Brown, DJ Khaled, Doja Cat, SZA and The Weeknd.

Drake has changed music forever. Simple as. He represents a new breed of young men, one that the music industry was not used to seeing, and one the world wasn’t used to seeing either. One that talks openly about his mistakes. One that talks about women with respect (for the most part). One that knows how good he is. Drake represents this generation.

The Canadian rapper/singer has been on top of the game for a long time now, mixing the perfect blend of pop and rap music, and creating a new breed of artist while doing so. Long gone are the days where all rappers talked about was drugs and guns.
Nowadays we have rappers like Drake with lyrics like “I gave your nickname to someone else. I know you’re seeing someone that loves you, but i don’t want you to see no one else.” Straight Outta Compton it ain’t.
This is not a slight on the genre of gangster rap, but it is the reason why Drake is such a huge success. People like to listen to what they can associate with, and seeing as the majority of the world hasn’t been in jail, artists like Drake are way more relatable. After all, who among us hasn’t had relationship trouble? Or who hasn’t felt a lack of confidence at some stage? They say talk about what you know, and Drake has done this perfectly.
Rap music goes hand in hand with toughness, with bravado, with “masculinity”. Drake took this stereotype, and threw it out the window. Because of the way he talks about his feelings, and the sincerity with which he does it, he has been labelled ‘soft’ by a number of his critics. This is all too common a feeling for young men these days, which is all the more reason why artists like Drake are so important.

It’s not weird for a young man to talk about their feelings. It’s not soft. It’s normal. And not only has Drake normalised it. He made it cool. If Drake can say the words, “I needed to hear that shit, I hate when you’re submissive. Passive aggressive when we’re texting I feel the distance”, well then why can’t everyone?
After all, if the same guy who is preaching about how lonely he can get, is the same one with thousands of beautiful women fawning over him, and winning awards by the dozen, it would encourage younger men to think that maybe being so openly comfortable with their emotions is the way forward.
Drake also releases music in a unique way, as he keeps most of his music off Youtube. He occasionally puts his biggest hits on Youtube, but more often than not he keeps them on Spotify. For some people, this is just an annoyance, as it means they are forced to listen to endless Conor
Maynard covers until they fork out the five euro a month for Spotify, but from a business standpoint, it’s genius. For a list of Drake’s albums, click the link.

With his Lil Durk-assisted victory lap “Laugh Now Cry Later,” the Canadian rapper confirmed that his upcoming album will be titled Certified Lover Boy (which may be the most Drake title to ever be a Drake title). Given the semi-surprise nature of all his releases since Views, CLB may very well drop any minute now.

Drake never quite disappears. How else could he have become one of the biggest stars of the last decade? He has remained consistent even as the world endured lockdown due to the ongoing pandemic, dropping a TikTok-primed hit, “Toosie Slide,” followed by the mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes. Mere hours before that mixtape came out, Drake teased that he was in “album mode” on Instagram.
Drake dropped ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ featuring Lil Durk, the lead single from Certified Lover Boy, on August 14th.
The music video, directed by Dave Meyers, plays centre stage to a whole lot of Nike product placement and features athletes including Kevin Durant, Marshawn Lynch and Odell Beckham Jr.
The day before, Drake released a teaser video of himself riding a jet-ski at night with the caption ‘TMRW MIDNIGHT’, leaving fans convinced the new song was set to drop.
In August 2020, an unreleased song by Drake titled ‘Intoxicated’ leaked online.
It’s unclear as to when the track was recorded and indeed which project it was intended for, but the leak has done nothing but build anticipation for his upcoming album.

The track comes after the release of Drake’s teaser project Dark Lane Demo Tapes, a compilation mixtape full of leaked tracks and Soundcloud drops from the Canadian rapper.
Although Drizzy’s been in album mode, he hasn’t held back on features. He’s recently collaborated with PartyNextDoor (‘Loyal’), Chris Brown (‘No Guidance’), Future (‘Life Is Good’), Meek Mill (‘Going Bad’) and more.
During an Instagram Live with PartyNextDoor, Drake told the R&B singer that he wanted him on his album. “Are you getting on my album orrrrrrrrr,” Drizzy commented in the Live chat. “It’s not a album without you.”
In April 2019, Drake announced that he’s already started work on his new album. During a show at London’s O2, he told the audience, “What I’ma do, I kinda started night last night to be honest
with you… But I think what I’m going to do after this, is go home and I’ma make a new album so I can come back to London next year and so we can do this again.”
There is no indication of the number of songs on the album so far. Although Drake may play into the significance of the number 6 – a number that has been important throughout his career.
On the seventh anniversary of his 2013 album Nothing Was The Same, Drake reminisced on his old material and promised Certified Lover Boy is on the way.
“New one’s on the way, soon enough,” he told his Instagram followers.

A couple of years prior, things between Meek Mill and Drake were so smashed up that the last — inconceivably — earned a GRAMMY gesture for his diss tune “Back To Back.” However, all through Meek’s lawful issues all through 2017 Drake would indicate bolster for the arrival of the rapper.

Meek Mill , once discharged, would invest energy amid interviews applauding Drake. “I don’t have despise towards him, and I don’t trust he has abhor towards me,” Meek said to Hot 97 in May. “When I was in that [legal] circumstance, I found in the media, he said ‘free Meek Mill.’ That’s the point at which I was at my down moment that I don’t have anything going ahead with music. Before we had a little rap issue. I knew him as a man, and he bolstered.”
Presently, the “So be it”- cut “R.I.C.O” combine are companions indeed. Amid Drake’s Aubrey and The Three Migos Tour stop in Boston today around evening time (Sept. 8), Meek joined the rapper in front of an audience without precedent for years. DJ Hustle

The video for Migos’ most recent hit, “Walk It Talk It,” just dropped, and we haven’t quit moving yet. The single slaps, however the genuine vibe here is the high-’70s style. The video is a Soul Train tribute highlighting Jamie Foxx as the show’s host (in an orange suit, no less), while the Migos are spruced up like a pinnacle ’70s funkadelic trio. That implies unsettled silk shirts, goliath Afros, and pink-focal point shades. The looks are excessively on the sense about wearing in regular daily existence in 2018—however with two or three changes, trims, and additional weaving, these could well be mixed up for Gucci.

Be that as it may, in the interim, when Drake enters the shred for an element spot, something unique happens: He’s really wearing an outfit that isn’t too a long way from what sharp folks are wearing today. (Reward: He’s notwithstanding wearing a coat you can purchase at this moment.)
Furthermore, we’ll let it out: We’d shake Drake’s look.

Be that as it may, before we get to the principle fascination, how about we discuss why the outfit works. Dark loafers with white jeans and a white shirt is an exemplary trio, if just on the correct side of “show off at Wimbledon.” A dark belt helps separate the stark white look also. What’s more, a monochromatic vibe, Drake reminds us, is the ideal stage for a champion coat. For you, that may mean an adored cowhide coat or an as of late copped plane. For Drake’s situation, since he is both Drake and additional, it implies a coat with studs that truly sparkle in the spotlight. Hustle
