The 2020 NBA playoffs are in full effect and what pleasant surprises they have been so far. We are now into the conference finals, where we have Boston Celtics vs the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference and the Los Angeles Lakers vs the Denver Nuggets in the Western conference. This isn’t exactly who the experts said the two teams out West would come down to in the beginning of the year. Their prediction and hope of a Lakers vs Clippers final were thrown into the trash when the Denver Nuggets decided to crash the party and defeat the Clippers to change the entire narrative of the NBA playoffs and NBA history.

When the season started the Los Angeles Clippers were considered to be the number one team in the NBA after acquiring the current MVP of the 2019 NBA finals and world champion Toronto Raptors, and the player considered by most to be the best in the world in Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers who haven’t been in the conference finals in 50 years was the team that everyone felt would take it all this year. These feelings and predictions all came about when they acquired Leonard, Paul George and other top free agents. These acquired players would make the experts believe that the Western Conference would come down to again to the Lakers and Lebron James vs Los Angeles Clippers and Kawhi, with the Clippers being the team to come out on top.
As we know Covid19 caused a break in the 2020 NBA season for 4 months, to only return in the bubble down in Disney World in Orlando, Florida. After 22 regular season games and 2 playoff rounds and no hope of court advantage for any team, we are now down to the last four teams and who will represent their conference in the NBA finals. We have Celtics vs Heat in the East and the Lakers vs Nuggets in the West.

In the Eastern conference Miami led by Jimmy Butler is up 2 -1 in their series and the Lakers are up 2 – 0 against the Denver Nuggets, and yes I did say the Denver Nuggets. As I mentioned earlier the Denver Nuggets change the narrative of the NBA playoffs and probably the history of the NBA. Down 3 -1 to the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers the Nuggets made NBA history by coming back from two straight 3 – 1 deficits.
So currently the Miami Heat are up 2 – 1 over Boston and the Lakers are up 2 – 0 after Anthony Davis game winning three point last second shot to win game two Sunday night. We are now going into the second week of the conference finals and we will soon see what two teams will come out to play for the NBA Championship. Please stay tuned. I believe we are in for some amazing basketball this coming week.

]]>Los Angeles Lakers took control at the start of the game and never look back. The Lakers took out the Houston Rockets from the word jump LeBron James had 29 points to go with 11 rebounds and 7 assists.

Anthony Davis 13 points, 11 rebounds, the lakers kicked in over drive from the tip off LeBron James had in his mind set desperation James continue to be a clutch player all night involving his team mates Rajon Rondo is another player who help the lakers pull away for the win.

Rajon Rondo is another key player for the lakers with his basketball IQ he differently knows at all times where all the players are on the floor, he gives LeBron James, Anthony Davis that push throughout the game. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green and Markieff Morris the lakers supporting cast this games to the level.

After a dominant 36 point, 10 rebound, 10 assist performance, LeBron James dapped up his longtime friend Carmelo Anthony and said goodbye to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, his Lakers having completed a 4-1 series victory. James combined with fellow superstar Anthony Davis to drop 79 points in the decisive Game 5, putting to rest any worries about a first round upset after the Lakers were shocked in Game 1. But for James, the series victory pales in comparison to what he and his fellow players were able to accomplish off the court this week.

Following the Milwaukee Bucks decision to strike and postpone Game 5 of their playoff series against the Orlando Magic, LeBron and his teammates quickly joined the movement to postpone all playoff games until further notice, leading to speculation on whether the NBA playoffs would continue.
A players and coaches only meeting was held in Orlando the next day, where the players went over the changes they expected the league to implement in order for play to continue. At the end of the meeting the players voted on the matter, with the Lakers and Clippers voting against the continuation of play. Though they would eventually come around, the decision sent shockwaves throughout the league. While talking to the media after Sunday’s game, James expanded on his decision.
“In sports this is the first time we’ve been able to do something like this, but this moment is so much bigger than us playing basketball,” James said. “Hopefully, years on down the line, when America is in a better place, you can look back to this moment and be like, that was one of the catapults that kind of got it going.”

Since the meeting James’s focus has returned to the court, with his sights set on championship number four. It has been a tumultuous season for the Lakers, from having to play after the tragic death of franchise legend Kobe Bryant to taking a nearly three month pause in play due to the coronavirus pandemic. But with the first round in the books, LeBron still believes the team’s best play is ahead of them. They will look to prove that message this week, when the Lakers take on the winner of the Houston-Oklahoma City series. HustleTV we love our sports.

In a year that has been full of surprises and disappointments the NBA playoffs have been a welcome site. Though many felt there might not be a season, the NBA found a way to create a bubble where players, families, and staff would be safe and quarantine from the Covid19 virus. In doing this of course there would be some players that wouldn’t and couldn’t take the bubble confinements, rules and regulations which would cause players to be quarantine 14 more days after coming back into the bubble.

Anyway, the playoffs have started and coming to the end of the first round. So let’s look at what has transpired so far. The Orlando Magic was beaten by the Milwaukee Bucks in their first round series; Miami would beat the Indiana Pacers in the first round of their playoff series. Miami and the Bucks are currently playing in the second round of their playoff series. The first game of that series has gone to the Miami Heat, which as of now would be an upset if they would go on to win that series. Boston, which swept Philadelphia the most disappointing team in the league the last three years, all smoke no fire is now playing the Toronto Raptors after the Raptors ran through the Brooklyn Nets, after one game of the second round Boston is up 1- 0.
I might have forgotten to mention earlier that the teams took a 48 hr break to the death of another black man to the hands of the Police, this time the killing took place in the great state of Wisconsin. Like everything in life it would be resolved with a large team meeting and phone conversation with former President Barack Obama and former player and now owner Michael Jordan. This boycott would be lead by the Milwaukee Buck and surprise not Lebron James. When the teams resumed the playoffs two teams would continue their winning ways in the Western Conference.

Those two teams would be the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers beat Dallas in tough hard fought 6 games, and the Lakers who lost the first game against the Portland Trailblazers. That loss would have all the pundits saying they would now get swept by the Blazers; thank you Stephan A. Smith and Charles Barkley. Because after losing the first game the Lakers would come back and beat Portland 4 game straight with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way. The Clippers which in my mind are the odds on favorite to win the entire thing, won an very hard fought series against the Dallas Mavericks and their up and coming star, Luka Doncic. The Clippers now await the winner of the Denver vs Utah series and the Lakers await the winner of the Houston vs Oklahoma series. Those two series are the last two and the only two of the first round going to go a 7th and deciding game.
Please note that there are no fans in the stand right now, only virtual for the first round. Family and friends will be allowed to attend games in second round. The main downfall to me is that there is no home court advantage. This is like playing in the final four one building, one court one chance to win it all. We will come back next week with more NBA playoff news.

It’s been about two weeks since we have seen the return of sports and out of all the major American leagues, the NBA has prevailed, where other leagues fumble.
There is a multitude of reasons why the NBA has been successful in resuming play, for one they have a commissioner who is often referred to as a “Players Commissioner”. Adam Silver has proven time and time again that his priority is player interests and safety, where almost all other sports leagues seem to care more about the interests of the owners and in some cases totally disregard player safety (*Cough, NFL).
The players’ safety has been ensured by mass testing, social distancing when they are not on the court, and most importantly of all, creating a closed bubble environment. Up to this point, the bubble has proven itself highly effective with zero new cases over the past couple of weeks of testing.

In comparison, other leagues like the MLB are still opting for teams to travel to various fields with few restrictions on the players’ actions outside of baseball. Not so shockingly within the first weeks of the season, they had their first outbreak when a combined twenty players and coaches from the Marlins tested positive for COVID-19.
Most shocking is that out of all the major sports leagues, the NFL was the only one in its offseason with a head start to plan and are fumbling to come up with a solution at the moment. Owners and commissioner Roger Goodell have yet to come up with any concrete plan and with owners like Jerry Jones stating that there will be fans at Cowboys games, it is safe to say they are possibly heading for a disastrous season that not only risks the health of its players but also the fans this go around.
On top of all this not only has the NBA done the best at ensuring player safety but up to this point, they have done the best at recreating the feel of a normal game without a crowd. Having virtual fans in the background, pumped in crowd noise with on the dot inflection points when Lebron dunks on a defender and commentators like Kevin Harlan on the call, the world almost feels normal for a two-hour time slot.
