Claressa is considered by many to be the greatest female boxer of all time. However, she became a victim of sexism when the US Boxing Athletic Association (USBA) decided not to give her a fight in the summer of 2016. 

She was initially scheduled to fight in June 2016, but, instead, it was her male opponent, Hanna Gabriels, who was handed a fight. They fought in July 2016 and Gabriels won. In March 2017, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) had made a very strict rule that no female boxer could have more than three fights in a row.

On April 21, 2018, in Cleveland, Ohio, Claressa lost to Hannah Rankin by TKO in the 5th round. When it was the fourth round, Rankin said that she was expecting a “blowout” and that her hands were tired from her previous win against the other Claressa Shields. Rankin threw many low punches, but Claressa was resilient and continued to punch back and use a higher and stronger guard.

After the loss, Rankin congratulated Claressa on the win. She said that it was a “great fight” and a “good learning experience” for Claressa. Rankin admitted that she lost to a better MMA fighter and that she would come back stronger. She did. She had two wins after her loss to Claressa.

According to HustleTV, Yordenis Ugas soundingly defeated Manny Pacquiao in a boxing match held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Manny was supposed to meet Errol Spence but it was found out that the latter got injured. As a result, Ugas was brought in as a last-minute replacement. Ugas just captured the WBA title and he plans to unite it with the Welterweight title. After a victory against one of boxing’s all-time greats, he is a young boxer whom many believe to be the next big thing. He represented Cuba in the 2008 Olympics and there is no reason to believe he could do it again in the future. Despite Manny punching more, Yordenis ended up landing more punches. Manny did not have any excuses as to why he lost afterward. He just apologized to his country people and that he gave it his all in this fight. If this was his last fight, he will be remembered as one of the people who went from becoming poor to one of the richest men in the country. He certainly earned every bit of what he was achieving right now and he can’t wait to show it all off. He captured lots of titles over his career.
