Claressa Shields is a world-class boxer, the first woman to win a gold medal for boxing in the Olympics, and a feminist icon. But even Claressa Shields has her struggles. She had a tough time after she lost her first fight.

Her coach Terry Claybon said that Claressa was “distraught” and “confused” after she lost. However, she quickly got back on her feet and won her next fight. In this article, we’ll learn about how Claressa dealt with her loss and what it takes to be a champion.
Section 1: Claressa Shields
Claressa is considered by many to be the greatest female boxer of all time. However, she became a victim of sexism when the US Boxing Athletic Association (USBA) decided not to give her a fight in the summer of 2016.
She was initially scheduled to fight in June 2016, but, instead, it was her male opponent, Hanna Gabriels, who was handed a fight. They fought in July 2016 and Gabriels won. In March 2017, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) had made a very strict rule that no female boxer could have more than three fights in a row.
Olympic Champion to First Loss
After Claressa Shields won her first gold medal, she started to be recognized as an outstanding boxer. But when she lost her first fight, she found that she had a lot of struggles. For Claressa, losing her first fight meant losing her sense of identity as an athlete. This was something that she had already been feeling before the fight. She decided to take a much-needed break and to get away from the harsh realities of the world. But when she got back, she put that loss behind her.

However, when Claressa was asked about it, she said that losing the first fight was very hard for her. She said,
“When I first lost, I was still confused about it. I didn’t know what to think. It was like a fight between life and death.
How did Claressa deal with her first loss?
Claressa can be known as a feminist icon and she has had to struggle for her family and because of her gender. On April 21, 2018, in Cleveland, Ohio, Claressa lost to Hannah Rankin by TKO in the 5th round. When it was the fourth round, Rankin said that she was expecting a “blowout” and that her hands were tired from her previous win against the other Claressa Shields. Rankin threw many low punches, but Claressa was resilient and continued to punch back and use a higher and stronger guard.
After the loss, Rankin congratulated Claressa on the win. She said that it was a “great fight” and a “good learning experience” for Claressa. Rankin admitted that she lost to a better MMA fighter and that she would come back stronger. She did. She had two wins after her loss to Claressa.

]]>HustleTV said it best when Gervonta Davis completely demolished Mario Barrios in their boxing match at the Statefarm Arena. Believe it or not, it was the first loss of Mario Barrios and both boxers came out with a huge effort right from when the bell rang. As a matter of fact, Davis knocked out Barrios temporarily with two nice punches at the 8th round. Just when he thought he had things going his way, he actually lost the next round. After that, retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. told him that he is actually losing in the judges’ scores. He took that into heart and delivered the finishing blow to his opponent right in the 11th round. it is one of those boxing matches that will get talked about for a pretty long time. As a matter of fact, most viewers saw it as pretty exciting even those who don’t really watch boxing too often. It will be talked about for quite a long time and it goes to show how these boxers earn a lot of money. They entertain the audience a lot which is why arenas usually get sold out for nice boxing matches such as this. The promoter definitely decided a good thing when he thought it would be such a good idea to put it right down to where it is supposed to go. Besides, it would be in their right mind to put up a fight that a lot of people would love to see so that a lot of people would be watching on pay per view. That would surely happen if both fighters are evenly matched and they barely have a loss on their record.

With the victory, HustleTV reports that Gervonta Davis becomes the new WBA Junior Welterweight champion and he says it is an honor to be mentioned alongside some of the sport’s all time greats. He knows he has a long way to go before becoming deemed as an all time great. He says he will continue to put the work in order to become such a respectable legend in this business. At first, that is hard to do considering the amount of critics watching your every move. In the end, you just need to come in the fight and give it everything you got and that is exactly what both fighters did and the best fighter certainly won. That was no surprise because a boxing match is not only about skill as it is also about analyzing your opponent in the middle of the game. The analysts over at HustleTV were right in telling everyone about the strengths and weaknesses of each fighter and they were on point. It was not long before both fighters took advantage of each other’s weakness which is why it went to the 11th round before someone lost. It remains to be seen whether or not there will be a rematch between these two fighters and you can bet Mario Barrios will be more ready.
