Migos Team Up with Nicki Minaj Cardi B On Motor Sport
The charismatic group has been relentlessly teasing their upcoming “Culture 2” album with
snippets, Instagram posts and more, but finally, we are receiving a taste of what to expect with
this upcoming project. With previews of a fire collaboration featuring both the likes of both the
queen, Nicki Minaj and the Bronx sensation, Cardi B, yesterday via social media, Migos is back
with an instant banger entitled “Motor Sport!” Released earlier this morning on the Breakfast
Club, the track is most definitely worth the time and listen.
Honestly, who would have thought in a million years that the world would ever hear Nicki
Minaj, Migos and Cardi B on a track together? If you answered, “no one” then you are
absolutely correct! The hit begins with Migos setting the atmosphere for the song.
Each member contains such a flavor that it can be missed if one does not pay attention to the
lyrics and flow. They all serve up hot bars, clever punchlines, and do it easily, while also adding
their own personal touches to make themselves stand out amongst one another. As usual, Quavo
immediately comes through with such a contagious chorus that it has listeners rolling their
shoulders like Lil Uzi for the remainder of the song.
“Motorsport, yeah, put that thing in sports (skrrt, skrrt)
Shawty bad (bad), pop her like a cork (pop it)
You a dork, never been a sport (dork, yeah)
Pull up (woo, woo), jumpin’ out the court (court, jump)”
(lyrics courtesy of Genius)
With what sounds like bells on top of a heavy bass booming beat, the production is very clean
and high-tech. It matches each of the members’ flows and truly makes their lyrics pop out more.
Filled braggadocios lyrics, entertaining bars, and adlibs that cannot be touched by any other
group, Migos certainly makes their presence known before Cardi storms through with her
scorching verse.
Cardi brings the sex appeal into the song as she raps about how she pleasures her man and does it
well She switches gears and proceeds to address the haters claiming that she acts different now
that she has bossed her life up and leveled up in many ways. Following her boo, Offset, she also
brings the same cocky swagger into her verse as she raps,
“Same h*es, that was sendin’ shots
They reachin’ out like their back itchin’
Why would I hop in some beef (why?)
When I could just hop in a Porsche?”
You heard she gon’ do what from who?
That’s not a reliable source, no”
(lyrics courtesy of Genius)
Before reaching the song’s end, the vet, Nicki the Ninja steps up to bat, and painlessly hits a
homerun. With much animation, swift metaphors (that may not be caught on first listen), and
cockiness, Nicki quickly gathers her haters and reminds all of them why she has run the Hip-Hop
game for as long as she has.
“Uh, yo, watch your man, then you should watch your mouth
B****es is pressed, administer mouth to mouth
You see them stats, you know, what I am about
I am the champ, I’m Iron Mike in a bout
Attention, I’ma need you to face front”
(lyrics courtesy of Genius)
Motor Sport delivers a theme of confidence and somewhat cockiness. From production, to lyrics,
to pure delivery, it makes listeners want to boss up on whoever tried to downplay them or carry
them. The song is perfect for the radio, the club, the next major function, the ride to and from the
function, and much more. Not only do Migos know how to make great records they also create
great collaborations appreciated by fans, listeners, and even other artists.
Motor Sport is now available on streaming services and iTunes. If you have not yet listened, do
it… right now! DJ Hustle
