Written By Kris Crews
With the closure of movie theaters, a lot of us are missing movie nights, the smell of popcorn, ingesting loads of candy and the excitement of sitting down and facing the huge screen as the sounds from the blockbuster movie start to play.
Sure, many movies have been put on Netflix, Hulu or the AMC app to watch, but one can’t help but miss that feeling. Although many theaters are still closed, this highly anticipated movie will be coming to select cities and theaters. That movie is Tenet.
Tenet, written and directed by Christopher Nolan and produced with Emma Thomas, is a spy film about an operative (played by John David Washington) of an organization known as Tenet who is labored with prohibiting World War III. Nolan stated that prior to the release he’d been working on a script for 6-7 years and looked to World War II movies, historical events and context as well as documentaries to fully capture and bring his idea to life.
Washington, the protagonist, is also accompanied by other notable actors and actresses such as Robert Pattison, Elizabeth Debicki and Michael Caine, making for a promising review at the box office.
There have been rumors and inklings that Tenet is a sequel to Nolan’s Inception. Although the film styling and overall feel looks very similar to Inception, Washington in a segment with Esquire, says “I’d say Tenet is an in-law to Inception…”
Due to COVID, the release of the film was set for the original date of July 17, 2020, but has been delayed numerous times in the states. Internationally, it will be released in seventy countries, counting Italy, Japan, Russia, France, Canada, Germany, South Korea and the United Kingdom on August 26.
The release date for the United States is set for September 3.
