West Coast Hustler Of The Week
1) West Coast , please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I would say that it started off at my high school Centennial High in Compton California but, I receive my first professional check from Terry Carter of heavyweight records. That’s where it all began. More importantly it has taken a lot of hard work, money and time for me to be able to accomplish all of the things that I have thus far.
2) How has Covid -19 changed your way of life?
I really don’t do as much as I used to now especially due to the fact that I have kids. My safety is their safety! Now due to COVID-19 you can’t just move the way you would prefer to, you have to think about the consequences of someone passing you the virus if you’re not being safe.
3) How do you think the music industry will change over the next decade?
It’s going to have to over off and adapt to the new restrictions of social distancing. I’m well aware that there are people that are not complying with social distancing and still having musical events and such but the bigger picture is more people are going to comply than not. It looks like everything is going toward streaming.
4) What advice would you give a new artist?
Invest in yourself. Never give up. And make sure you surround people that are doing things that you would like to see yourself doing. Most people will tell you that they want to be the next biggest thing in music but, almost all of them and I wanted to pay the money, work as hard and take the risk to make that happen!
5) Who has played a meaningful role in your life?
All the homey’s! Catherine Goldwyn, Terrace Martin,Ed Jones, Ki Hughes, Jason Martin a.k.a. Problem, Goldie Loc, Mr. John Roberts, Terry Carter, and most importantly my brother G1! Even you Hustle.
6) What would you like to see changed in the world
That’s a broad question. There are quite a few things that I would like to see changed in the world. More precisely equality across-the-board.
7) What’s next for West Coast?
Skies the limit! I may even be venturing into things not related to music. But Music is my first and only love!
