1) Laci Smith , please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? Hi im Laci
For starters, I grew up in Bakersfield, Ca. I wouldn?t be anywhere today without my family. I grew up in a single mother household. My mother plays a main role in making sure I achieve all my goals. I?ve always tried to set an example and have a hard work ethic to show my younger family members that nothing comes easy in life. Ive seen multiple women be great, so I knew for myself it would be no excuse. I also grew up in church, God was always my light and my church my supporters. I also had to realize I need to grow up so I moved away from home for college.
2) Working hard to get great grades in school has it been a smooth road? Please give us your GPA. Working hard to get good grades in school is definitely easy to me. Ever since I was little I was self motivated and and got my homework done in after-school program before I got home. For high school and college I try to use a student calendar to stay on top of my work which makes doing homework easy. My gpa in college isa 3.3.
3) What college are you looking to attend and what will be your major?
Currently I I attend Cal State University of Sacramento. I am currently a second year student. My major is communication sciences and disorders. I want to become a speech pathologist and do ASL interpretations along the way on the side.
4) How has Covid -19 changed your life?
Covid-19 has made me more responsible. I feel like I dont go out much to curve the spread of the virus. I definitely have been tapping into my inner self. Im realizing im into fashion way more than I thought. Covid has made me realize im blessed and healthy. I feel like doing more social networking because everything is through media right now. For example meeting students in on-line class I chat with everyone and people are less shy.

6) Who has played a meaningful role in your life?
Honestly my bestfriend?s Sasha and Yvette have played a meaningful role in my life. The two always support me in everything I do. Every time I had a game they were there. They taught me to value each other, and they have grew to be family. They show loyalty and always keep it real. As best friends these girls became my sistsers because what they say and do are genuine acts. They dont do things in return and as an only child they showed me how to lessen my selfishness, but expand how much i care for others.
7) What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include tik toks, singing, dancing, hanging out with friends and now practicing sign language. Sometimes I like to do my makeup or watch Netflix.
8) What else should our readers know about you?
Im all about giving back. If and when I become a millionare and make enough money to support homeless people I will do that. I want fo create a foundation for homeless people to get back on their feet. In addition I want to create a boys and girls club and stop youth gang violence. Someone I know recently passed and if children had an escape or outlet instead of the streets, violent activities would be decreased.
9) What advice would you give a struggling student? Advice id give is ask questions. Don’t be afraid its your grade and it doesn?t kill to ask something. We have to get over our fear of rejection and feeling like our questions are ?dumb? ignorance is bliss. So ask questions, get social if you can. Last but not least set YOUR path and follow it. Don?t try to swerve in someone else?s lane, because their journey doesn?t lead to YOUR DESTINATION.
