With the last episode from the original series ending on February 9, 2020, rapper and executive producer of the show, 50 Cent, returned with the sequel Power Book II: Ghost which premiered on September 6, 2020.
Power Book II: Ghost is about Tariq St. Patrick being on his own for the first time. He divides his time between school and hustling to pay for his mother’s defence attorney. When he runs out of options, Tariq turns to a familiar drug game.
With the very first episode of the series airing on July 7, 2014, many believe Power to be one of the best television shows on the market.
In his very words, 50 Cent stated that “Power is the best show out right now.”
He made that statement following with an explanation that this very show has everything. Love, drugs, money, crime, mystery and drama. All the components needed to make a show thee show; minus the cast. Not to mention, the cast is full of diversity, which makes the show stand out more.
This series is based in New York, where 50 Cent was born and raised. The story behind it portrays a little bit of his life growing up as he stated in an interview with Genie Godula.
With only two episodes in from the new sequel, fans are on the edge of their seats waiting for more and they can already tell that this sequel will only continue to get better.
“Power is never going to end,” said 50 Cent.
Many prequels, sequels and spin offs of Power are confirmed and in the works. But for now, the attention is directed on Tariq St. Patrick and his struggle to balance an honest living and a dishonest living, clean and dirty, and most importantly school and the streets.
