Space Jam 2 Trailer makes it debut with basketball star Lebron James

After years of anticipation (from the kind of people for whom “LeBron James and Bugs Bunny are finally friends now!” is a highly anticipated event, leastways), the first trailer for Space Jam sequel A New Legacy has finally arrived. And, sure enough: This does appear to be a film in which an AI Don Cheadle forces James to play basketball with Yosemite Sam in order to save his son from a terrible fate of not wanting to play basketball with LeBron James.
The trailer introduces us to Lebron James, gifted basketball player and struggling father. LeBron is pushing his kids to be equally amazing on the court — but it’s not exactly working out. A few mishaps later, the athlete finds himself in the realm of the Looney Tunes, where we meet Bugs, Lola, Tweety, Yosemite Sam, and the Tasmanian Devil.
On top of the cast of some of the finest cartoon character Warner Bros. could muster, A New Legacy also features a star-studded human cast of real-life NBA players including: Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Kyle Kuzma, Draymond Green, and Anthony Davis. Don Cheadle plays the villain, a computer sim who sucks LeBron and the toons into his 3D hell of Warner Bros. IP. On the digi-court, LeBron will face off against the Goon Squad.
Meanwhile, Taurasi is depicted as “White Mamba” as this was the nickname given to her by the late great Kobe Bryant. And lastly, Thompson was seen on fire in the trailer which could represent his shooting ability. The trailer is also packed with references to both the original movie, and to other Warner Bros. films. Much like Ready Player One, The Iron Giant shows up. For a character who got no love back in the ’90s, the giant sure is finding new life in IP-friendly remixes.
